Tasting Notes

Evidence of a warmer vintage is immediately on display, with rich plum skins, spicy fruitcake and herbaceous savoury notes. The palate has immediate appeal of sweet red fruits, balanced with a tight tannin structure and a long savoury finish. The presence of dried Italian herbs and floral rose notes on the nose, lift and add to the complexity.

The second Pinot Noir of the night and what a completely different kettle of fish to the Riposte Sabre with deep mid-red colour and a brooding red fruit, earthy, savoury and briary nose. Big palate with a great density of fruit flavours and earthiness to the point of rustic rural savoury charcuterie and a spicy edge to everything. Builds in the mouth then produces great length with fine tannins that powerfully hold the finish. Needs time - could be great in 4-5 years. 96/100 now.
